Events

Throughout the year, the Chazen Museum of Art offers activities and events that are specifically designed for children. An adult, however, must accompany the children.

These events, for the most part, are thematically related to the museum's temporary exhibitions, and all of them are, to some degree, participatory in nature. Although they are aimed toward helping children learn about art, culture, and history through direct experience and interaction, they are based on the premise that learning can be fun.

Many of these activities and events, such as storytelling, poetry reading, participatory music and dance demonstrations, and dramatic reenactments, are broad and interdisciplinary in approach. Others, such as drawing, bead making, stenciling, designing a chair, painting faces, etc., focus on the art of making as a skill and a discipline.

The museum's curator for education and specially trained volunteer docents organize and supervise all children's events. However, many of the individual activities are designed and implemented by guest artists. These events take place in the museum's galleries, the open spaces around the building or in spacious Paige Court.
