Chazen Museum of Art Hires
Assistant Director for External Affairs

MADISON, WI, November 11, 2008

The Chazen Museum of Art is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Carr Lee as Assistant Director for External Affairs. This is a new position at the museum, created to further develop the membership base, enhance community and corporate relations, and establish volunteer programs and opportunities. Carr Lee came from Meriter Hospital and Health Services where she was Director of Community Relations.

Carr Lee is exceptionally qualified for this position with her extensive background in community, corporate, and public relations. She has been a member of the Madison community for most of the past twenty-seven years. In the early 1980s she worked as a television news anchor and reporter at WISC-TV, Channel 3, before moving to news markets in Kentucky, Chicago, and Oklahoma City. In 1991, Carr Lee returned to Wisconsin to join the UW Hospital and Clinic’s Public Affairs department where she produced video news releases of medical procedures. After receiving a master’s degree in public policy from UW–Madison’s Lafollette School of Public Affairs, Carr Lee joined Meriter Health Services in 1998 and established the hospital’s community relations department. For the past ten years Carr Lee has worked with community, university, and corporate leaders throughout Dane County, representing Meriter Health Services in many different forums.

In addition to her career, Carr Lee has devoted some of her free time to community service with United Way, the Madison Children’s Museum, and the Dane County Health Council. She received her BA from Iowa State University in 1981, majoring in broadcast journalism and communications, and her MA from the UW–Madison in 1995 in Public Policy and Administration, with a Certificate in Programs in Health Management.
