To celebrate the opening of Sundance Cinemas 608, arts lovers are invited to an evening of entertainment and film at a benefit for Chazen Museum of Art on Sunday May 6. The theme of the evening is “Moving Pictures.” The event will include a reception at the new theaters, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the Madison premiere of Paris, je t’aime, a collective work of eighteen five-minute love stories set in the arrondissements of Paris. Sundance Cinemas 608 Bar Bistro 608 will offer hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and a cash bar. Musicians from the UW-Madison School of Music will perform and art will be brought to life by actors from the UW Theatre and Drama department. Attire for the night can range “from t-shirts to tuxes”; guests are invited to dress in their favorite black and white outfit.
At 7:00 p.m., Sundance Cinemas 608 will present the Madison premiere of the national release arts film Paris, je t’aime, distributed by First Look Productions. Paris, je t’aime pays homage to the mythic City of Love. In this collective work, eighteen filmmakers bring their personal touch to a five-minute love story set in one of the city districts of Paris. The producers have woven these shorts into a single narrative unit, delivering a breathtaking range of encounters, moods, lifestyles, and neighborhoods. Film directors include Alfonso Cuarón, Ethan and Joel Coen, Wes Craven, and Gus Van Sant; Juliet Binoche, Steve Buscemi, Natalie Portman, Miranda Richardson, and Elijah Wood are among the starring actors.
Tickets to the event on May 6 are $35 per person, $60 for a pair; advance purchase is required. Tickets are limited and on sale now through theWisconsin Union Theater box office at 800 Langdon Street, Madison, WI 53706. All proceeds benefit the Chazen Museum of Art.
