Each individual work of art on display in the museum is accompanied by a label giving the artist's name, nationality, birth and death dates, the title and date of the work, the materials of which it is made, a credit line indicating the source of the work, and its accession (i.e., inventory) number. Occasionally, especially in temporary exhibitions, there are extended wall labels, which provide information about artists' biographies, the historical or cultural context of the works, and the curator's reasons for grouping certain works of art together.
