Chazen Museum of Art
Mini Courses

Programs  Visual Arts Devotees

The Chazen Museum offers fee-based, noncredit summer classes for members that are taught by the museum's curators. Each mini-course consists of six 90-minute sessions given during a three-week time period. One course focuses on print connoisseurship, the other, on curatorial issues related to painting and sculpture; both use the collections as primary resources. Course topics vary from year to year.

Past course titles have included:
  • History and Technique in Printmaking
  • The Woodblock Print in Japan, Europe, and America
  • Painting and Sculpture of the Italian Renaissance
  • European Baroque Painting

The emphasis of each course is direct, intimate, first-hand examination of works of art. Class enrollment is limited so that each participant can study the works up close in an interactive setting. For more information about summer courses, or to be placed on the mailing list to receive course descriptions and registration form, contact the curator of education.

Summer 2009 course offerings - Class begins May 26.
