Museum Etiquette

Eating, drinking, and smoking are not permitted in the building.

Parcel Check

Objects such as packages and purses larger than 11 × 14 inches, backpacks, umbrellas, and rigid baby carriers that pose a potential hazard to the art are not permitted in the galleries. Lockers, requiring a $0.25 key deposit, are available on the second floor. They are located in the north and south hallways leading to the museum offices. Items too large for these lockers and umbrellas may be checked at the Paige Court security desk.

Photography

Photographs of the permanent collection may be taken with a hand-held camera without a flash. Written permission must be obtained from the registrar for any other photography or video recording.

 

 

 

Lost and Found

Found items should be turned in to the security desk located at Paige Court. Inquiries regarding lost items should be directed to security at 608 263-5578 or the officer on duty.

Sketching

Visitors may only use graphite pencils and drawing pads no larger than 36 × 36 inches. Pastels, crayons, ink paint, tape measures, and easels are not permitted. Visitors are requested to sit at least two feet from a work while sketching or writing. Additional information about works of art on view (such as measurements) is available from the museum registrar at 608 263-3722.

A Special Note

Help us preserve our collections for future generations of students and visitors. Please do not touch works of art, pedestals, frames or cases. Running, pushing, shoving, or other physical acts that may endanger works of art are prohibited.
