Two seminar rooms and three auditoria are located on the Chazen Museum's lower level. Grouped together, these rooms honor the memory of loved ones by their thoughtful and generous sponsors. The seminar rooms, one in memory of Sarah Colossino Peterson, the other in memory of Charles Sumner Slichter and Mary Byrne Slichter, are equipped for dual slide projection and each have a maximum seating capacity of twenty-five.
The Ed. Phillips Auditorium, with a capacity of 289, is the largest of the three auditoria. Of the remaining, which were sponsored by Wisconsin alumni from the Classes of 1914, 1915, and 1916, one seats 146, and the other 92. The former is a state-of-the-art, high-tech classroom.
Because the terms of the donor provisions specify that the primary focus of the building is to be teaching and exploration of the visual arts, these rooms are primarily available for the programs and classes of the art museum and the Department of Art History. However, the Chazen Museum of Art may make these spaces available to other university departments, civic, educational, cultural, charitable and other nonprofit groups or programs provided that these events:
