Description

The Avanti Piano Trio (Alissa Freeman, piano; Hillary Hempel, violin; Hannah Wolkstein, cello), is an accomplished and PBS recorded group from Madison, WI, delighting audiences with their passion, artistry, and desire to share the stories composers tell through their compositions.

Pianist Alissa Freeman received her doctoral and master’s degrees in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Michigan. She currently manages and teaches at Panoramic Piano Studio in Madison.

Violinist Hillary Hempel holds degrees in violin performance from The Colburn Conservatory of Music and Northwestern University. She is a member of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Hunt String Quartet through one of Madison Symphony’s education programs, and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.

Cellist Hannah Wolkstein studied cello at UW–Madison, the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and a private apprenticeship in Atlanta, Georgia, with Wolfgang Laufer, cellist of the Fine Arts Quartet. She has a private cello studio at her home in Madison.
