Description

Lecture by Prof. Julia Murray, Professor Emerita, Department of Art History.

Lecture synopsis: The period from the late sixteenth through seventeenth centuries is often called the "golden age" of illustration in woodblock-printed Chinese books. During this time, both the numbers and variety of illustrated publications dramatically increased, reaching wider and more diverse audiences than ever before. This lecture will explore visually appealing examples from a range of genres.
