The Chazen Museum’s exhibition program is determined by the Museum’s chief curator in concert with the director and is planned three to four years in advance. When assessing exhibition proposals, consideration is given to the academic nature of the exhibition, the feasibility for the museum to facilitate the exhibition, the exhibition schedule, and the cost required to host the exhibition. We seek to create a balanced program of exhibitions–both internally organized and those that come from other organizations–featuring a variety of cultures, time periods, and mediums that will appeal to the students, faculty, and staff of UW–Madison, as well as the Madison community.
Proposals for exhibitions can be submitted at least three years in advance of the anticipated opening date by emailing a prospectus, checklist, and other pertinent information to exhibitions@chazen.wisc.edu. Please note that we typically do not accept solicitations from artists and only consider fully conceptualized exhibitions. All exhibitions originated by the Chazen Museum are generated in-house. Due to the large number of proposals we receive, we will only be able to respond to those of potential interest and will do so within at least three months of receipt.
