Chazen director Amy Gilman to serve on National Museum and Library Services board

President Biden Announces Key Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Amy Gilman, PhD, director of the Chazen Museum of Art, has been appointed to the National Museum and Library Services board. The White House announced new members of the board in a press briefing released Aug 12, 2022.  Gilman will serve a five-year term. Also named was Dr. Dipesh Navsaria, associate professor of pediatrics at UW–Madison’s School of Medicine and Public Health.

“It is an honor to be appointed to serve on the National Museum and Library Services board,” said Gilman. “The IMLS provides invaluable support for museums and libraries across the country, and I am humbled to join its distinguished Board. I look forward to lending my expertise and perspective to IMLS, and am exceptionally grateful for the opportunity.”

The National Museum and Library Services Board advises the the Institute of Museum and Library Services on general policies with respect to the duties, powers, and authority of the agency relating to museum, library, and information services, as well as the annual selection of National Medals recipients. The mission of IMLS is to advance, support, and empower America’s museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development. IMLS envisions a nation where individuals and communities have access to museums and libraries to learn from and be inspired by the trusted information, ideas, and stories they contain about our diverse natural and cultural heritage.
