Jim Nutt

Jim Nutt is a founding member of the Hairy Who, a group of six graduates of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago who exhibited together. Inspired in part by comic books and folk art, the Hairy Who artists—including Nutt’s wife, Gladys Nilsson—employed bright colors, graphic patterns, and word play. Many of Nutt’s works depict human figures with grotesquely exaggerated anatomy.
