Kubo Shunman

This print is from a series in which the male characters from the Chinese novel Outlaws of the Marsh (Shuihuzhuan in Chinese, Suikoden in Japanese) are transformed into female characters. The male character Lu Zhishen (Kaosho Rochishin in Japanese) is known for his flower tattoos. Here, instead of showing a tattooed body, the gender-switched hero is dressed in an elegant kimono with a cherry blossom pattern.
