Massimiliano Soldani Benzi

A pair of bronze sculptures called Morning and Evening are small copies of sculptures made by Michelangelo (1475-1564) for the tomb of Giuliano de' Medici, in the church of S. Lorenzo, Florence. The sculptor emphasized the muscular bodies with the contrapposto (twisted body form) expressing emotion in the confined energy of the body. The patterns of light on the curves vitalize the contorted figures.
