Showing an amorous couple in Dutch costume departing for the Isle of Cythera with Bacchus leading the way, this scene is after a 1708 engraving by Bernard Picart (1673–1733), a French artist active in Amsterdam. It was popular on Meissen porcelain a decade earlier.
