1940, Estate of Samuel Untermyer sells at a Parke-Bernet auction titled “The Untermyer Collection, owned by the late Samuel Untermyer and his children. Paintings, Gothic and Renaissance furniture, tapestries, and other works of art” [lot 149]; May 11, 1940 (New York, NY) to Brummer Gallery (New York, NY); 1949, sold from the Joseph Brummer Estate at a Parke-Bernet Galleries sale “The notable art collection belonging to the estate of the late Joseph Brummer, Part I”, April 27, 1949, no. 577 (New York, NY) to H. Kevorkian (according to an annotated auction catalogue), likely Hagop Kevorkian (1872-1962). According to the Blumka Galleries, the sculpture was in the possession of William R. Hearst (1863-1951) and was sold to the Blumka Galleries following Hearst’s death in 1951.1969, sold by the Blumka Galleries (New York, NY) to Elvehjem Art Center [now called the Chazen Museum of Art] [Last researched by Chazen staff 12 January 2021]
