This still life painting showcases a bountiful arrangement of harvested game and produce atop a wooden table. A woven basket overflowing with vegetables anchors the composition. Leafy artichokes, green cabbage, a tied bundle of pale-yellow asparagus, and a large head of cauliflower spill out of the basket. In front of the basket lie two plucked chickens with pale pink skin, black neck and tail feathers, and red combs and wattles. The head of one chicken dangles limply from the edge of the table. Beside them, a skewer lined with small colorful birds hangs from the table. A grey partridge and green-headed mallard duck lie lifelessly beside a rabbit with brown fur. The rabbit''s head lies at the edge of the table, and its long hind legs, tied together, rest on the basket of vegetables. To the right of the rabbit, another chicken hangs upside down by a rope tied around its feet. Its gray flight feathers splay open from its plucked wings. The composition is bathed in warm light and set against a dark backdrop. The painting is richly detailed and realistic in appearance.
