Three-footed Cylindrical Cup

Three-footed Cylindrical Cup

Kinkozan workshop

The three feet of this cup are purely ornamental. The cup rests, in fact, on a round base. The shape is reminiscent of Japanese censers that typically rest on three feet. Makers of Satsuma ware often imitated Japanese and Chinese traditional shapes to give an exotic appeal to items meant for export.
