By 1925, Adolf Grabowsky (Berlin, Germany) [1]; Contessa Giustiniani (Genoa, Italy); 15 July 1930, sold] by Alessandro Contini-Bonacossi (Rome and Florence, Italy) to Samuel H. Kress (New York, NY) [then attributed to Giuseppe Angeli]; 1939, gifted by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation (New York, NY) to the National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.)[then attributed to Giovan Battista Piazzetta]; 1952, deaccessioned and returned to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation (New York, NY); September 1961, gifted to the University of Wisconsin-Madison; 1967, transferred to the Elvehjem Art Center [now called Chazen Museum of Art]. [1] This is probably the same as the painting lent by Grabowsky to Old Masters in Berlin Collections: Akademie der Bildenden Kunste, Berlin, July 1925, no. 229, as Domenico Maggiotto.
