Maria Kirschner (style of)

Contrasting regular forms and irregular patterns of process, this rhomboid-shaped clear glass vase is decorated with a dark, iridescent teal and purple enamel "drip" design that extends from the top rim onto the lower half of the vessel. The simple, bold, geometric form recalls similar designs produced by Maria Kirschner, a painter and applied arts designer originally from Praque. From around 1903 to 1914 Kirschner collaborated with the Loetz firm, and designed vases and other glass works that combined colored and uncolored glass.
