Howard Ben Tré

Howard Ben Tré often integrates bronze, brass, lead, and other metals into his massive molded glass forms, which draw inspiration from the faded industrial landscape of Providence, Rhode Island. Ben Tré saw in Providence’s abandoned factories and discarded machinery echoes of the enduring geometric order of ancient architecture. By frosting the glass surfaces and coating the interior metal with gold leaf, Ben Tré produced a diffused internal radiance that contrasts sharply with the works’ steely exteriors.
