Liu Hung

In Liu Hung (b. 1948)’s print entitled Needlework, lithography, a form of printing practiced in China since the nineteenth century, is used to create a work whose subject has been strongly associated with womanly virtue in China since ancient times. The depiction of the woman at close range allows for an intimate viewing experience. The medium of lithography employed by the artist results in a slightly fuzzy image that recalls a snapshot from memory.
