This leaf from a late-medieval manuscript features miniature paintings of Sagittarius and a man herding swine—both subjects appropriate for a calendar dedicated to November. Architecture, highlighted with gold, frames the two images and the calligraphic script, handwritten with gold, red, and blue inks. The text, which continues on the parchment sheet’s verso, lists important religious holidays to be observed during the month.
