In or after 1947, possibly purchased in France* by Vernon Hall (Madison, WI); 19 July 1977, gifted by Vernon and Sandra Hall (Madison, WI) to the Elvehjem Art Center [now called Chazen Museum of Art]. *The preface for the 1978 Catalogue of The Vernon Hall Collection of European Medals states that the core of this collection was purchased in France in 1947, but the object file contains no records specific to the purchase of this work.
