Unknown (after Paul Adolphe Rajon)

William Merritt Chase was an important American Impressionist painter and teacher. He had many students between his summer Shinnecock Hills Summer School of Art and the Chase School of Art (now the Parsons School of Design). He also taught at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Art Students League, and the Brooklyn Art Association. The artist of this small portrait is unknown, but was likely one of his students, as they frequently represented Chase.
