Samuel Halpert

Samuel Halpert was a modernist artist best known for his still-lifes, landscapes, and cityscapes of New York and Paris, where he studied intermittently from 1920 to 1925, as well as Detroit, where he resided at the end of his life. This city view overlooking rooftops exemplifies Halpert’s interest in representing the city from window views and high vantage points. It emphasizes the geometric nature of architectural forms.
