<span>According to an inscription on this painting’s reverse, it was purchased from 30 January 1890 from a Galerie Georges Petit auction (Paris, France) of the artist, Jules Dupré’s estate (however this painting is not identifiable in the sale catalogue). Unknown date, acquired by Lucius Hutchings (Washington, DC); 27 October 1926, sold following Hutchings’s death by C.G. Sloan &amp; Co. auction (Washington, DC) at his estate sale (lot 55); 27 October 1926, purchased from this sale by Charles Noble Gregory (1851-1932); 1942, deposited at the Wisconsin State Historical Society; 1964, title passed to Charlotte C. Gregory (Northbrook, IL) [niece of Charles Noble Gregory]; 1964, gifted by Charlotte C. Gregory to the University of Wisconsin-Madison; 1967, transferred to its Elvehjem Art Center [now called the Chazen Museum of Art]</span>
