Ann Wolff

In 1990, the Ann Wolff began making glass collages—or what the artist calls “light pictures.” In this example, “Ann Van Gogh” is a reference to Vincent Van Gogh’s self-portraits. In Wolff’s rendition, she achieves her self-portrait with layers of glass shards—many are transparent, others are opaque, and some are clear. Once layered, the glass’s colors and contours are further defined with gestural brushstrokes, revealing the figure's image.
