Katsushika Hokusai

Also known as The Great Wave, this print is one of the most famous artworks in the world. Hokusai’s composition summarizes Japan’s vital but sometimes dangerous relationship with the sea. The monumental wave dwarfs Honshu island’s sacred Mount Fuji and threatens boats of fishermen transporting fish to the market.
