This painting depicts a rural landscape with farm buildings and a waterway under a cloudy sky. A large building with a black gambrel roof dominates the left side of the painting. A small path separates this building from a long wooden building with a pointed roof that sits at the center of the painting. A narrow waterway lined with brown mud and green grass flows through the foreground and reflects the sky and surrounding scenery. Tall, bare trees on either side of the waterway lead towards a vast open field that extends into the distance. The scene rests under a sky painted in a blend of pink, yellow, and off-white clouds. The painting is richly textured with gestural brushstrokes throughout.
