Kirstin Pires
Head of Communications

What I do at the Chazen: I direct the museum’s communications program.
When I started: January 2, 2014
On Saturdays you’ll find me: on the lake, with my dog, outside
What I love about the Chazen: It is the living embodiment of the Wisconsin Idea.
My alma mater: Carleton College (B.A.), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (M.A.)
My college major: studio art-printmaking
My favorite artwork not at the Chazen: Any of Aggie Zed‘s little people.
Last job before the Chazen: director of communications for a Washington, DC-based trade association
First job: Picking up walnuts from my grandmother’s yard. Five cents each.
Side hustle: Teaching puppy kindergarten and all manner of dog-training classes
My creative outlet: knitting, spinning, making pictures
Most unusual job: director of media relations for the men’s professional billiards tour
