Artist Sanford Biggers, MASK Consortium, and Wildcat Ebony Brown of the Wide Awakes invite you to a reception to keep the conversation going.

"re:mancipation" encompasses the reimagining of the Chazen’s problematic Thomas Ball sculpture "Emancipation Group," the repositioning of additional objects in the museum’s collection, creation of a new artwork by Biggers, as well as new research, archival, and educational material. Building Community, Connecting with Our Past: A Reception for Graduate Students

The UW-Madison Public History Project is a multi-year effort to uncover and give voice to those who experienced and challenged exclusion on campus. Echoing Overseas: Curator in Conversation

Chi-Lynn Lin, PhD student and curator of Echoing Overseas, and Steffani Bennett, UW–Madison assistant professor and Joan B Mirviss Chair in Japanese Art will take a closer look at processes of artistic exchange in pre-modern and modern Asian art. Lin and Bennett will invite the audience to rethink issues of influence, originality, and agency.

‘I Left My Heart…’ Opening Celebration

'I Left My Heart...' is Kayla Bauer's love letter to San Francisco. This relationship unfolds through dozens of photographs and collected objects. The beauty of kitsch, camp, and icons appear throughout the images and is represented through mid century souvenir plates and tiny figurines.

Bauer is the winner of the 2022 Russell and Paula Panczenko Prize for an Outstanding MFA Student.
